Metrorail

The regional subway system, often referred to simply as “Metro.” It has five color-coded lines that intersect at various points: blue, green, orange, red, and yellow.

There is direct access to the Metro at this airport (the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport station). Follow signs inside airport to the Metro station and take the Blue line to the Metro Center station.

  • Fee: $3.00 non-rush hour; $3.50 rush hour (one way)

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Metrorail

The regional subway system, often referred to simply as “Metro.” It has five color-coded lines that intersect at various points: blue, green, orange, red, and yellow.

The nearest Metrorail station is the West Falls Church station on the Orange line. Connection to this station from the airport can be made by riding the Washington Flyer Coach Service. Upon arriving at the West Falls Church station, take the Orange line toward Washington, D.C., to the Metro Center station.

  • Washington Flyer Coach fare: $10 (one way)
  • Metrorail fare: $3.75 non-rush hour; $4.95 rush hour (one way)

Metrobus Route 5A

An express bus service between Dulles Airport and Washington, D.C. The bus stops at airport’s Ground Transportation Curb (Arrivals level, down the ramp), curb location 2E.

Ride this bus to either the Rosslyn (VA) Metrorail station or L’Enfant Plaza (DC) Metrorail station. Then take either the Metrorail Orange or Blue line to the Metro Center station.

  • Metrobus fare: $6 (one way)
  • Metrorail fare: $2.70 non-rush hour; $3.10 rush hour (one way)

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Metrorail

Take the free airport shuttle bus from the airport terminal to the BWI Marshall Rail Station. Then either:

  • Take an Amtrak train to Union Station, and then take the Metrorail Red line to the Metro Center station. Estimated fare: $30 (one way); or
  • Take a MARC train (Penn line commuter train, weekdays only) to Union Station, and then take the Metrorail Red line to the Metro Center station. Estimated fare: $10 (one way)
